Emma Crawford is an award winning graphic/package designer,
dollmaker, artist whose work has been exhibited locally and in NYC. Born and raised in the Hudson Valley, Emma graduated from
Arlington High School, then moved to NYC to attend and graduate from Pratt Institute with a BFA degree in Book Arts and a
MS degree in Communications & Package Design. Emma worked at Pratt as Coordinator of Art Admissions and was very involved
in alumni affairs. Eventually, she left that aspect of education to work as a designer for on-air TV graphics, graphic & package
design for cosmetics, fashion, toys, and educational institutions.
After many years as a partner/owner of a NYC design
company and part-time college level instructor of fine arts, illustration and design, Crawford relocated back to the Hudson
Valley and has recently returned to pursuing her fine art printmaking with other women artists at the Woodstock School of
Art. Emma terms her technique MonoCollé, one-of-a-kind layered works on paper, a combination of collograph, collage and chine
collé. The first time these prints were exhibited was at the Society of Illustrators in NYC. Emma continues to work as a children’s
book designer and illustrator, lives in Lagrangeville and maintains a studio at the Cunneen Hackett Arts Center located in
the historic River District in Poughkeepsie, NY.
Emma is a member of the Society of Illustrators in NYC and was on
the Board of Directors for 10 years. In addition, she is a member of the Dutchess County Arts Council, the Society of Children's
Book Writers and Illustrators, and the the Society of Layerists in Multi-Media (SLMM).
